Overview

The Panch Pokhari are five small ponds located at the northeast of Kathmandu, nestled in a grassy alp at the base of the massive Jugal Himal Range. Panch Pokhari trek is full of adventure and offers a combination of rich cultural heritage, unsurpassed beauty and biological diversity. Panch Pokhari trek begins from Chautara, home of Sherpa and Tamang people. Panch Pokhari trek starts from 1,400m and goes up to 4,000m at PanchPokhari, a seldom visited pilgrimage site.

Itinerary

We will have our representative to pick you up from airport and will transfer you to the hotel. Overnight at Kathmandu hotel.

On this day we will roam around Kathmandu valley. We will have breakfast and will be out to Swayambhunath (the monkey temple), bouddhanath, Kathmandu durbar square and other temples too like Taleju, kumari ghar.

We will leave Kathmandu early in the morning. Chautara is located 328km northeast of Kathmandu. After following the scenic road for 5hrs we will reach Chautara. This is the Headquarter of Sindhupalchowk district. Stay overnight at Chautara.

Our Panchpokhari trek begins from Chautara. We will pass through few tea houses to Saule which is the pretty tiny village of Tamang ethnics and we will cross the river over the bridge and follow the ascending trail to Saule. Get the views of Gaurishankar Mountain, Dorjelakpa Mountain and other peaks and mountains.

We will leave Saule early in the morning and follow the ascending trail through the blooming forested ridge. Crossing the forest of pine and blooming rhododendrons, climb to the top of hill.We can enjoy the awe-inspiring views of Jugal Mountain Range, Gaurishankar Mountain and Dorje Lakpa Mountain. Following the ascending trail, we will arrive at pastureland of Kamikharka Hill.

We will walk through the pastureland of Kami kharka. It is going to be easy trek as we will be following the plain land. 3 hours of trek through forest will take us to Chyochyo Danda. We will reach to the top of Chyochyo hill for panoramic views of surrounding mountains.

We will start our trek by crossing the river. From river, we will follow the climbing trail and walk through forest of bamboo and rhododendron to the top of small pass known as Hilebhanjyang. There is a small settlement at the top of Hile Bhanjyang. We can get fascinating views of river valley from Hilebhanjyang.

After taking breakfast early in the morning, we will follow the ascending trail through the forest of oak and pine. Several local birds like Kalij and other birds can be seen throughout the way. Exiting from the forest, we will arrive at the savanna land from where we can get unobstructed views of Jugal Mountain Range and Gaurishankar Mountain.

From Nasempati we will walk to Panch Pokhari. This is a pond that is sacred to Hindu, Buddhists and Shamans. Panchpokhari translates as the collection of five lakes. There are five lakes which lies close to each other. We can get views of Jugal Himal Range, Rolwaling Mountain Range ad Gosaikunda from Panchpokhari.

We will follow the descending trail from Panch Pokhari and cross the forest of pine, bamboo and juniper. 5hrs of trek from Panchpokhari will take us to Gai Kharka where we can see Himalayan cattle grazing in the area.

This day we will walk across the meadow of Gai Kharka and climb through the path decorated with prayer flags and chortens to Yangri. This is the small pretty village of Tamang ethnics. Stay overnight at Yangri.

Early in the morning, we will go to the nearby ridge for mountain views and surrounding and we will follow the escalating path from Yangri and walk across the forest area to the large settlement of Tarkegyang. Stay overnight at Tarkegyang.

We will walk through the wide valleys and big and small Sherpa settlements and climb through the forest area to Sermathang. Sermathang is one of the major villages in Helambu region.

On this day we will wake up early and walk lower down from Sermathang to Melamchi River. Upon reaching there we will freshen up at the sparkling cool water from Melamchi River and walk to the Melamchipul. Stay overnight at Melamchipul.

We will drive from Melamchipul to Kathmandu for 5 hours. The trail progresses through rough road at Lamidanda to Kathmandu. Stay overnight in a hotel at Kathmandu.

This day you can spend on your own. Go for shopping in Thamel or you can also choose any of the day tour packages. Farewell dinner will be served in the evening with typical Nepali culture.

We will drop you to the Tribhuwan International airport from where you can begin your next journey.
