Kusum Kanguru Peak Climbing - 6367m. - 19 Days

Kusum Kanguru Peak is most difficult trekking peaks in Nepal. It is an impressive rock and ice peak which forms the border between the Dudhkosi in the south and Hinku Valley to the north. This peak is a complex, triple-summated mountain having at least five major ridges and faces. The north face of the main summit is the most spectacular one. The name Kusum Kanguru comes from Tibetan meaning "Home of Three Gods" and it actually has 3 different summits. This peak is one of the most difficult trekking peaks to climb and was first ascended in the autumn of 1979 by a Japanese team. It offers more challenging climbing in Nepal.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
We will have our representatives to pick you up from the Tribhuwan International airport. After that you will be transferred to hotel.Overnight at Kathmandu hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing
On this day we will go for sightseeing within the Kathmandu valley after having breakfast.We will visit Buddhist and Hindu temples like Boudhanth, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath which reflect the local culture. In between that we will have lunch.After that we will visit Kathmandu durbar square and return to hotel.
Day 03: Flight to Lukla and trek to Chutanga (3100m.)
We will wake up early in the morning as we need to take a flight to Lukla.During our flight we will have view scenic flight to Lukla (2800m.) from Kathmandu. It takes 30-40 minutes to reach Lukla. Then we will start our trek and head to Chutanga.
Day 04: Acclimatization day
On this day we will have leisure time as we need rest so we will make proper. We will visit some beautiful places around Chutanga.
Day 05: Chutanga to Tuli Kharka (4400m.)
This day we will strat our trek from Chutanga to Thuli Kharka. It takes around six hours to reach Thuli Kharka. We will pass through the forest of rhododendron and pine.
Day 06: Tuli Kharka to Tashing Ongma
We will wake up early as we need to climb 3600m to Tashing Ongma .We will have our lunch on the way. Overnight at Tashing ongma.

Day 07: Tashing Ongma to Tangnang
This day we will trek to Tangnag from Tashing ongma. Overnight at Tangnang.
Day 08: Rest day at Tangnang
On this day we will take rest for proper acclimatization in the high altitude. We will take some excursion around Tangnang and will visit Sabal Tsho Lake.
Day 09: Tangnang to Kusum Kangru Base camp
After one days rest at Tangnang, we will continue our journey and head to the base camp of Kusum Kangru. On the way we can see the panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.

Day 10: Base camp to High camp I
This day from the base camp we will climb up to the High camp I. The route is little bit difficult.
Day 11: Rest Day
This day we will take rest and prepare for the climbing the Peak.
Day 12: High Camp I to High camp II
After one day rest in the High camp I, this day we will continue our climbing to the high camp II. We will enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains and glaciers.
Day 13: Climb the Peak and back to Base camp
Today we will achieve our goal. We will climb the Kusum Kangru peak from the south ridge. From the peak we can see the fantastic view of the Himalayas like Mt. Everest (8848m.), Cho-Oyu (8201m.), Lhotse (8516m.), Makalu (8463m.), Nuptse (7855m.) Thamserku, Amadablam and Kwongde etc. After observing the view from the summit we descend down to the base camp.
Day 14: Trek to Tashmg Ongma.
From the base camp we will retrace our route to Tashmg Ongma.
Day 15: Trek to Thuli Kharka
This day we will descend down to Thuli Kharka and follow the previous route. We will pass through the forest and terraced farm enjoying the beautiful landscapes and Mountain View.
Day 16: Thuli Kharka to Lukla
This day also we will follow the previous route and descend down to Lukla from where we started our trekking.
Day 17: Flight to Kathmandu
This day we will take flight back to Kathmandu and upon reaching Kathmandu we will transfer you to the hotel.
Day 18: Leisure day in Kathmandu
On this day we will have leisure day so you can go to spa or for massage as you will be tired from the trek.In the evening we can visit Thamel street and Ason street for shopping.
Day 19: Departure.
The trip ends, our Airport Representative will drop you to the Kathmandu International Airport for your flight departure from Nepal and you can go back to your home country or new destination.
